IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Due to tightening Covid restrictions in some areas, localized clubs in these specific areas have been shutdown.

Please see the email copied below I have received:

Dear Valued Corporate Partner,

The Ontario Government announced today that indoor gyms and fitness centres in the Ottawa, Peel, and Toronto public health regions are required to close for 28 days beginning Saturday, October 10th. The New Brunswick Government announced today that indoor gyms and fitness centres in the Moncton health region are also required to close.

We know we have done everything possible to maintain health and safety during this global pandemic; however, we are required to be compliant with what the Government is asking us to do.

In line with these restrictions, all GoodLife Clubs in the Ottawa, Peel, Toronto, and Moncton public health regions will be closed until Saturday, November 7th.

For information about whether or not your Club is affected by these new restrictions please visit www.goodlifefitness.com/goodlife-standard

All future bookings for members at these Clubs will be cancelled, and we will inform Members when bookings become available again.

Membership Information

Corporate memberships in Ottawa, Peel Region, Toronto, and Moncton will automatically be paused until gyms in your region reopen.

Please Note - due to the turnaround time required by automatic-withdrawal banking systems, we are unable to stop biweekly Membership withdrawals for dates prior to October 14. All Membership dues withdrawn while we are closed will be credited when our Clubs reopen. Members will not lose any time for which they have paid. After that credit runs out their payment schedule will begin on the same day as before this temporary freeze.

Paid-in-full Memberships will be extended by the same length of time as the temporary closure in your region.

Use of Clubs outside of Ottawa, Peel Region, Toronto, and Moncton

Following the recommendations presented by the Ontario and New Brunswick Governments, GoodLife asks Members not to travel from higher-transmission areas to lower-transmission areas at this time.  Members located in the Ottawa, Peel, Toronto, and Moncton public health regions are requested not to visit Clubs in regions outside of their own during this temporary closure.

If a member’s home address is outside of the Ottawa, Peel, Toronto, or Moncton public health regions, and they wish to use a club in their home address region, they are approved to do so.

Supporting your physical and mental health

We know that exercise is extremely important to physical and mental health, and much like when we proactively closed our Clubs in March, we will do everything we can to support our corporate members with our digital at-home options.  As well, we will continue to support our Corporate Partners with our continued fee-based virtual programming.  Please email workplacewellness@goodlifefitness.com for more information or to start your program today.

We thank you for your continued patience as we navigate these unprecedented times. GoodLife’s top priority remains the health and safety of our Members, Associates and communities. We believe strongly in the power of fitness and our purpose as an organization.  We will be back stronger than ever once this temporary closure is over.

Yours in Health & Fitness,

GoodLife Workplace Wellness Team

Please see their website for more information on booking a workout: https://www.goodlifefitness.com/goodlife-standard

Renewals/Signup Information

The first big change - You will not be sending money to me anymore

The second big change - All signups will be done online through the goodlife portal

The third big change - There is now both a yearly membership fee and a bi-weekly payment option.

2020-2021 Fees (valid until May 31st, 2021

Let me clarify how this works.  There are no longer "pro-rated" yearly memberships.  It is a full-year from whatever date you join until the same date next year.  The May 31st, 2021 date is only for when our contract renews - in other words, when they can change how much we pay bi-weekly /annually for a membership.  If you sign up December 1st, 2020 for a yearly membership, you will pay $597.77 and it will expire December 1st, 2021.  At that time, you will pay whatever our new contract that starts June 1st, 2021 states the fees are.

The first step to signing up should start here - read the FAQ document which will outline the main points of the new method.

After reading the FAQ, please open the Powerpoint presentation.

New members start on slide 2, existing members slide 22

Once you have viewed those two documents, you are ready to sign-up.

IMPORTANT

Eligible Employees who are a part of our program will use their WORK email to signup with Goodlife.  These domains have been pre-approved in the system.  When you start searching for our program, begin typing (First Responders Eastern Ontario) and two options will show up.  For most people, you will choose the first option "First Responders Eastern Ontario".  The Unique ID option is only for people who are not @ottawa.ca, @ornge.ca, @peterborough.ca, @ROFFA.ca - if this is you, you will have to contact me (Allan Evans - allan.evans@ottawa.ca and/or 613-913-2747) and I will provide you with a pre-approved Unique ID that you will use under the appropriate option in the drop-down menu.

Our History

In 2011, we approached Goodlife Fitness and inquired about what it would take to start a Corporate Goodlife Account.

By combining Ottawa Firefighters, Ottawa Paramedics, Ottawa ByLaw and Ornge Paramedics, we were able to meet the membership numbers Goodlife needed (roughly 100 members of which 2/3 had to be new members), and our first corporate plan was born at an annual fee of $400 under the banner of "Ottawa Fire Goodlife Plan".

From those humble beginnings, we now have about 230 members from the groups above and we have been able to add various emergency services admin personnel, Ottawa Fire Retirees, Frontenac County (Kingston) paramedics, and most recently, Ottawa Police to the program.  As a result of this diverse membership group, Goodlife Corporate has re-branded us as "First Responders of Eastern Ontario Goodlife Plan".
